What's the show about?

The show, now a world-wide hit, comes from humbler beginnings. Brighton-based artists Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas created a piece of street theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that then got noticed and shot the pair and their unique work into the spotlight. Stomp has now been turned into an Oscar-nominated short film and plays to packed houses in both New York and London, as well as a touring the world. In 2012, Stomp wowed billions when they took centre stage at the epic closing ceremony of the London Olympics.

What's the story?

Stomp is like no other show – it is an experience. No words pass the performers lips for the entirety of the show; instead you are taken from one musical sketch to another, resulting in a collection of scenes that are built around the different ways of making sound from the objects they play with. From plastic bags and bin lids to brooms and even a kitchen sink! The language is universal – sound, physical comedy and dance. It is pure expressive theatrical magic.

Who is it for? Should I see it?

This Olivier Award-winning show is the most accessible production that the West End has to offer – there is no language barrier and rhythm is universal. Young children are a big draw to Stomp, due to the attention-grabbing sounds and lack of complicated dialogue. It is not for the sound-sensitive though, as it can be very loud, especially when the drumming reaches fever pitch.
