For most theatres, the first row of seats in the auditorium is considered a form of ‘restricted view’. This is because a musical or play has been directed and designed to been seen from a slight distance – the whole stage frame, rather than section of it. However, if you don’t mind looking up at the actors, then it can actually be a more exciting and thrilling theatrical experience. Restricted View Seats

Every theatre auditorium in the West End has a handful of seats that are considered to have a restricted view. This means that either the stage is quite far away or there is a pillar or other architectural feature that may obscure your view of the action on stage. This sound far worse than it actually is and, for the cut-down price of these restricted-view tickets, it is well worth it.
