National Theatre Entry Pass
The National Theatre is the torchbearer for cheap theatre tickets, especially for young people. Their large funding subsidy is given on the condition that they make theatre accessible to people of all income levels and social background, not just for the well-off. The Entry Pass (EP) scheme allows anyone under the age of 26 to book a theatre ticket to any show in one of the National’s three theatres (that’s a lot to choose from!) for just £5. They can also bring an under-26 friend for £7.50. With an average ticket price of £25 and higher, £5 is an absolute steal!
The top tip here is to book as soon as the EP tickets are released. As you can imagine, tickets at those prices get snapped up fast, so to avoid disappointment book for the whole season in one go – you could be getting hundreds of pounds worth of top quality theatre for the same value as one normal ticket!
Another piece of advice is always bring proof of ID with you to the theatre; any box office manager worth his salt will check your age when you pick up the tickets. The Entry Pass also gives the holder access to all manner of workshops, platforms, master-classes and pre/post-show discussions – all for FREE!!!
