What's the show about?

After more than 10,000 performances, the multi-award-winning musical The Phantom of the Opera still continues to excite and entertain as much as it did back when it opened in 1986. The gothic world of 20th century Paris and the opulence of it’s infamous Grand Opera House are cleverly brought to life on stage by award-winning designer Maria Björnson, who designed the sets and over 200 costumes for the production. With sweepingly romantic songs such as ‘All I Ask of You’ and ‘The Music of the Night’, young and old alike can’t help but be whisked off their feet by this dramatic tale of love, jealousy and redemption.

What's the story?

The Phantom of the Opera is based on the French novel entitled Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux and its central plot revolves around a beautiful soprano named Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious and disfigured musical genius that haunts the Paris Opera House where Christine performs. After several sinister ‘accidents’ occur in the opera house, panic ensues and Christine’s lover Raoul must try his best to rescue her from the clutches to the malevolent but golden-voiced Phantom.

The dark tale is a must for any romantic or theatre fan.

Who is it for? Should I see it?

A musical spectacular with the songs to back up the lavish sets, it is a show for first-time theatregoers that want to see the best that the West End had to offer. It differs from the traditional musical by being completely ‘sung-through’, meaning there is very little spoken dialogue, so music fans will also enjoy the romantic and creepy musical. It is advised for children over the age of ten, while those under the age of five will not be admitted.
